PHL 2001 CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN ETHICS
This course will examine a number of current ethical debates. The purpose of this class is to look at the underlying philosophical questions that are at the foundation of the moral issues of our time: namely, what does it mean to be human? Who gets to decide this? How do we interact with other humans and non-humans? Each of the philosophical readings that we will engage with address these in their discussions on moral questions on abortion, imperialism, scientific experimentation, feminism, disability and accessibility, and environmentalism. However, it is only be addressing what is at the heart of ethics can we make any true head way on contemporary ethics.
