BIO 5032 Parasitology

This course is designed to provide the student with a qualitative and practical introduction into the field of Parasitology. The course will focus on parasites causing human disease. All major parasites will be covered. In addition to lectures, the student will be exposed to current research within the field which will be covered via literature review. For the laboratory portion of the course, the student will receive a hands-on approach to anatomical features and differentiation of various parasites. Together, the lectures, laboratories, written assignments, and review of current literature will leave the student with well rounded knowledge of the field, including contemporary approaches at the laboratory bench, and the ability to communicate in a scientific manner.
