BIO 5029 Advanced Immunology Seminar

This seminar based course is designed to provide the student with a practical discussion on various aspects of immunology, clinical trials, and new technology shaping the field of basic and applied immunology research. This course will present the field to students in four modules: The first will focus on antibody generation and t-cell differention principles by reviewing current literature. The second module will focus on new technologies shaping the field of applied immunology research, such as CRISPR-Cas9 and CAR-T therapy. The Third Module will focus on current vaccine development implementation and caveats. The last module will allow students to choose a contemporary immunology topic and present it to the class. Together, the lectures, hands on approach, written assignments, and review of current literature will leave the student with a well-rounded knowledge of the field, including contemporary approaches in the field, and the ability to communicate in a scientific manner.
