PSY 3101 PEER EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

The goal of the class is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to educate their peers on how to identify common behavioral health problems and, when necessary, how and where to seek help. Students will learn the definition of and the basic rationale for peer helping and peer education. Course content will be focused on common behavioral health issues experienced by college students and young adults such as mental health concerns, alcohol and other drug abuse, sexual assault, relationship violence, and related topics. Students will develop multimedia presentations that incorporate information from literature reviews and in-class information. In the course's culminating assignment, in a variety of settings on Manhattanville's campus, students will teach their peers what they have learned.
