SW 6701 PSYCHOPATHOLOGY FOR CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE
This is an advanced course in techniques of diagnosis and assessment of individuals that emphasizes an appreciation for the mutual influences and interactions among all systems. This course will incorporate a working knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-5. Throughout all aspects of the course, the influences of race, gender, ethnicity, developmental stage, sexual orientation, disability, religion, and socioeconomic status are examined as it relates to the diagnostic process. Possible interventions for each disorder will be discussed, as will the concepts of risk, resilience , and stigma. This section of Psychopathology for Social Work Practice is a hybrid course which will meet in both face to face and online formats. This course includes six (6) in -class, face to face, synchronous meetings and nine (9) weeks in-online, asynchronous format. the course desgin is for alternate weeks of face to face with online meetings. This section will also utilize significantly more technology and software than face to face sections.
