ENG 1224 THE GRAPHIC NOVEL

This course traces the development of the graphic novel from its roots in the superhero serials of Marvel and DC through the long-form alternative comics of Robert Crumb, Lynda Barry, and the Brothers Hernandez (among others) to its latest form, in academically embraced works such as Art Spiegelman's Maus, Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis, and Nick Drnaso's Sabrina.
