Section 5: Code of conduct
The code of conduct supports the shared values and communal expectations that promote the development of the individual and the community. Policies listed below identify behaviors that are unwelcome in our community and in opposition to the honor code. Each area of potential violation is defined and typical sanctions are listed.
Procedures and rights in the student conduct process are conducted with fairness to all. Sanctions will be proportionate to the severity of the violation(s) and to the cumulative conduct history of the student. Multiple or egregious violations of policies may result in disciplinary suspension or permanent separation from Elon University.
The University encourages community members to report to University officials all incidents that involve concerning behaviors. Any member of the Elon University community can submit an Elon University incident report with the Office of Student Conduct (located in the Center for Leadership, Suite 102). The incident will be reviewed, and if disciplinary charges are warranted, it will be referred to the appropriate administrative hearing officer or hearing board.
The form and instructions for reporting a policy violation can be found on Student Conduct’s website (www.elon.edu/e-web/students/conduct/) or an email with as many details as possible can be sent to the director of Student Conduct, Randall Williams, at rwilliams35@elon.edu.
