This course will provide students with an introduction to the world of finance and technology known as Fintech. Students will explore the history, current applications, and future trends of Fintech through selected readings, hands-on exercises, guest lectures, and case studies. Students will learn how Fintech is disrupting traditional financial services such as payments, lending, wealth management, insurance, and regulations. New financial innovations involving blockchain, cryptocurrencies, machine learning, and APIs will be explored and applied. All of these topics will place special emphasis on the impact of innovations to traditional financial institutions, consumers, regulators, and Fintech startups.
