Overview

Offered at the Augusta campus

Entrance Dates: Fall, Spring, and Summer
Length of Program: Fall - Four Terms
   Spring and Summer - Varies
Credit Hours Required for Graduation: 24

Program Description: The Electrical Engineering Technology Fundamentals certificate consists of occupational courses intended to expose students to core electrical engineering concepts/techniques including basic mathematics, circuit analysis, computer programming fundamentals and digital systems. This TCC is embedded in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) degree and is intended to benefit students who are unable to complete the ECET program and leave after their first year in the program. High school graduation or GED is required for admission to this program.

Employment Opportunities: The increasing complexity of modern technology has resulted in a rising demand for engineering technicians. An electrical engineering technician works closely with electrical engineers, in manufacturing plants, federal agencies, utilities, or research and development companies. Postsecondary education is essential in the field of engineering technology, and there is a constant demand for engineering technicians in industrial and manufacturing facilities in the local area. Courses in the TCC emphasize basic skills needed to support engineering tasks. Completion of this TCC enables students to make avail of apprenticeship opportunities which are increasing as an employment trend for entry level positions.
