SPAN 3325 Spanish for Medicine, Nursing and Physical Therapy

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of Spanish, with emphasis on developing listening comprehension and speaking skills in medical settings, such as medical offices, clinics and hospitals.  It includes activities for developing abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.  This course will address the following general topics related to health professions: body parts, illnesses and symptoms, numbers, dates, colors, family history, as well as interviewing and counseling patients.  Topics specific to this course include language specific to physical and diagnostic exams, treatments and prevention, and medical terminology.
