DDX106 Group Skills for Dual Diagnosis Population
This course will examine skills needed in facilitating group work with dually disordered clients. Role playing will be utilized in each class to enhance theoretical models reviewed. Various groups that are designated for divergent levels of service delivery will be discussed. Review of existing group work in the addictions and mental health fields and their applications to dually diagnosed clients will be highlighted. Additionally, self help group models and their relevance to dual diagnosis group work will be discussed. Behavioral management and psychoeducational approaches will also be presented.
