Spanish

Introduction & Overview

The Spanish program at Manhattanville College believes that well-prepared Spanish students should be able not only to speak, read, write and understand the Spanish language at an advanced level of proficiency, but also to acquire a better knowledge and understanding of Spanish and Latin American culture and literature. In view of the widespread use of Spanish in the United States and around the world, and considering the increasing economic and cultural relations between Spain, Latin America and the U.S., the Spanish program offers a wide range of courses that introduce students to the language, culture and literature of Spanish-speaking countries. Teacher certification is also available.

A semester abroad in Spain or Latin America is recommended.
