Childhood Education (Grades 1 – 6), BA/MAT (E101)

A TOTAL OF 90 LIBERAL ARTS CREDITS IS REQUIRED FOR THE BA DEGREE. (Education courses do not count towards liberal art credits.)

The following education courses are to be taken during the undergraduate program. They include 5 graduate courses that may count toward both the BA degree and the MAT degree.

Candidates will student teach only once, during the MAT program.

EDU 5380	Curriculum, Management and Assessment In Childhood Education	3
EDU 5107	Childhood Mathematics Methods	3
EDU 5108	Childhood Science Methods	3
EDU 5112	Childhood Methods for Social Studies	3
EDU 5113	Childhood Methods for the Arts	0

PSY 2001: for Psych majors or minors

SSE 2025: for all other majors and minors

EDU 5393, EDU 5380, EDU 5107, EDU 5108, EDU 5112, EDU 5113: graduate courses that will be counted toward both the BA and MAT degrees for honors Dual Degree candidates.

Students begin to take graduate courses in their junior year. 

BA/MAT students will complete the remaining credits of their MAT program in Childhood Education after completion of the BA degree. They will become eligible for state certification in Childhood Education upon completion of the MAT degree.
