BIO 3080 MOLECULAR BIO TECHNIQUES

This course is designed to emphasize contemporary molecular biology techniques used in academic and industrial experimentation. This one semester course will focus on molecular biology concepts such as advances in nucleic acid (DNA, RNA) manipulation techniques, bioinformatics, protein structure and function analyses, bacterial transformation procedures, protein expression and purification, electrophoretic and immunochemical techniques, amongst others. To engage students, lecture material will be reinforced through practical applications within the laboratory setting. The lectures and laboratory assignments will leave the student with an operational knowledge of the field of molecular biology and an ability to communicate the material in a scientific manner.
