STME 5710 APPLIED PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
This course covers both analytic and numerical methods for solutions to initial value problems and boundary value problems for linear partial differential equations of elliptic, hyperbolic, and parabolic types, as well as nonlinear problems. An emphasis will be placed on numerical methods, as well as accuracy and numerical stability of these methods. Applications of partial differential equations to various branches of science including physics, chemistry and biology will be emphasized. PREREQ: MATH 3455, STME 2403 OR MATH 2995 ENROLLMENT: 20 COURSE TYPE: Required Course for Computational science and Engineering Majors. A major elective for graduate students or advanced undergraduates in mathematics or the natural sciences.
