FULL TITLE: PROFESSIONAL in SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY IIIa: CONDUCTING RESEARCH in SCHOOL SETTINGS COURSE : PSYD 6100 SEMESTER HOURS: 1 PREREQ: PSYD 5000, PSYD 5001, PSYD 6000, PSYD 6001; Matriculation in Professional Diploma in School Psychology Program CO-REQ: PSYD 6090 Externship in School Psychology ENROLLMENT LIMIT: 20 COURSE TYPE: Specialist. Required for all Professional Diploma School Psychology students This first course of a two-course sequence focuses on research, evidence-based professional practices and the trasition from externship training to professional school psychologist. Special attention will be paid to the use of data-based observations and measurement and the development of a positive impact project to assess the specific effects that externs/candidates have on the students they serve in school settings. Candidates will acquire additional knowledge and skills related to the application of laws and ethics with the clients they serve in school settings(students, families, teachers, other educational professionals). In addition, candidates will acquire knowledge and skills related to the operation of school systems and special education practices in real school settings.
