Program Description

This certificate program prepares students to be a professional Hatha Yoga Teacher in studios, health clubs, private practice or other health-promotion arenas. Students will develop skills to teach yoga and relaxation to diverse populations who can benefit physically, mentally and spiritually from learning this ancient art of stretching, body postures and relaxation techniques. This certificate is certified by Yoga Alliance and successful program graduates are eligible for their RYT200 level certification. Courses must be passed with a grade of "C" or better.

1. Teacher Training Institute for Yoga (HHP 250); Pre/Coreq: ENG 121 or CCR 092 or CCR 093 or CCR 094.
Note: Anatomy background is strongly recommended.

2. One HHP Elective; Pre/Coreq: May vary pending choice of course.
Note: Students are advised to consult with the HHP Program Director and/or yoga instructors prior to selecting their elective course(s).

HHP Electives: Faculty recommend choosing 2 credits from any of the HHP courses that best match their personal/professional interests; however, Ethics in Holistic Therapies (HHP 261) and Creating a Holistic Business (HHP 263) are highly recommended.
