The Master of Education Program
Elon’s newly structured 33-hour M.Ed. program with an emphasis in Innovation in Education is part-time and designed for teachers who are graduates of accredited institutions and initially licensed to teach. The program has face-to-face courses in the summer and online courses during the academic year.
Our program has been designed to disrupt practitioners’ traditional concepts of schooling and move teachers toward more progressive visions and praxis. Candidates are: (1.) introduced to a range of progressive student-centered pedagogies such as project-based learning and place-based education, (2.) asked to reimagine education within a constructivist framework, allowing for equitable learning opportunities that are respectful and responsive of students’ backgrounds, and (3.) offered opportunities to experiment in their own practice with innovative pedagogies.
