Bachelor of Arts in Political Science
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree program expands awareness and understanding of political life and issues of public concern and stimulates scholarships and continuing interest in government, government service, and international affairs. Students also may explore themes of war and peace and the effects of globalization, the role of international law and organizations, and America’s leadership in the world.

American Politics Concentration
The American Politics concentration emphasizes a deep understanding of United States politics and government. Through the required 18 hours of courses, students explore the U.S. legal system, constitutional law and the branches of government, and public and foreign policy. Courses on environmental law, human rights, political psychology and behavior, and gender and politics are also offered and provide insight into the intersection of political science and justice.
International Relations and Comparative Politics Concentration
This concentration integrates courses from both the fields of International Relations and Comparative Politics. Students examine global political structures and climates of European and Asian countries, as well as politics in developing regions. Political Science majors choosing this plan of study round out their 18-hour concentration requirements with studies in human rights, U.S. foreign policy, globalization, and terrorism and conflict.
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Degree Plan
Students may choose either the American Politics Concentration or the International Relations and Comparative Politics Concentration to complete the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree plan.
American Politics Concentration
A minimum of 121 credit hours are required to complete the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree program in this concentration.
