GRN 7205 Psychiatric Mental Health Application, Management, and Advancement Across the Lifespan
This course is designed to equip students with advanced skills, contemporary management strategies, and a forward-thinking approach to mental health care. This course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications, emphasizing a lifespan perspective to address the diverse needs of individuals across different developmental stages. Students will develop skills to incorporate therapeutic modalities in the practice setting while providing holistic, evidence-based care as it relates to special populations with mental illness across the lifespan. Theories of various treatment modalities, therapeutic communication, and evidence-based standards of care; along with use of clinical practice guidelines are also emphasized. This course will also focus on the psychosocial impact on populations at risk, as well as the systems and policy gaps. PMHNP students will develop skills to address these gaps in the practice setting, but also within the global healthcare arena. Implementing the APRN role based on organizational data-driven decision-making will be examined. Emphasized will be the role of the advanced practice nurse as a leader, clinician, educator, consultation, researcher, and interdisciplinary team member.
