CHED 3350 Environmental Health Education

Environmental Health Education is offered as part of a Community Health Education Department concentration. This 3-hour didactic course focuses on the concept of the earth as a patient and the dynamic relationship between humans and their environment, including human activities, natural processes, and their real or potential impact on the planet’s health—thus, on the people who inhabit it. Students will have the opportunity to gain a greater personal and holistic perspective on the human response, e.g., socio-political, spiritual, psychological, and economical, both adaptive and maladaptive, to the environment, its opportunities, and threats. Pertinent environmental health information, data, and insights will enable students to engage and educate individuals and their communities on a variety of environmental health topics with the goal of improving the health of the community.
