SOCI 3325 Sociology of Mental Illness
Students examine the theories and research in the sociology of mental health and mental disorders. The course will emphasize how sociologists view mental illness through an intersectional lens, the causes of mental illness, and the social and institutional responses to mental illness. The course examines mental illness from an intersectional lens that incorporates diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) components of the distribution of mental illness including race, ethnicity, gender, and LGBTQ+ status.
