ED 524 METHODS TEACHING COMPREHENSION & VOCAB
Examines reading comprehension as a meaning-making construct through which the reader interacts with text, and the role of schema in processing text. Candidates learn strategies to comprehend, interpret, analyze, and evaluate text using a variety of genres from a literary, informational, and multicultural perspective that considers the inherent global themes of literary and informational text, poetry, persuasive and functional texts. Candidates apply skills to authentic contexts as they acquire core understandings about literacy pedagogy.
