Master of Arts in Teaching
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is intended to accommodate the educational goals for two sets of educators: for those holding a bachelor’s degree who are also pursuing initial certification, and Sacred Heart candidates who participate in the bachelor’s-to-master’s five-year program. The MAT program has the following four components that are designed to build on the applicant’s prior academic and school experience.
MAT Requirements:
Foundations of Education (12 credits)
Curriculum and Instruction (15 credits)
Elective (3 credits)
Culminating Experience (3 credits)
Master of Education
The Master of Education (M.Ed) program is intended to accommodate the educational goals for two sets of educators: for practicing educators who have already earned an initial teacher certification and certified educators who have not yet taught. The M.Ed program has the following three components that are designed to build on the applicant’s prior academic and school experience.
MEd Requirements:
Curriculum and Instruction (18 credits)
Electives (9 credits)
Culminating Experience (6 credits)
