CHM 25000 Fundamentals of Biochemistry
This is a fundamental non-lab-based biochemistry course designed to provide an overview of biochemistry concepts for students preparing to enter the medical profession. It will introduce students to the general families of biomolecules that comprise the science of biochemistry. It will integrate biochemistry concepts with other chemical and biological disciplines. The course will introduce biological macromolecules, including the structure and function of proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids and membranes. Transport, enzyme mechanisms, bioenergetics, and metabolic pathways will be discussed.
