Individualized Mentored Study (Through Learning Contracts)

Individualized mentored study is an agreement between a faculty member and a student by means of a learning contract to complete a subject outside the parameters of a traditional classroom, through mentored, independent study. The student, guided by the instructor, identifies specific learning objectives for the contract and the learning activities through which these objectives will be met.

The learning contract also spells out the evaluation criteria and the procedures to be followed at the end of the contract period. The faculty member assigns a grade.

Students must complete the course no later than 15 weeks after start of the contract.
