EDU 144 Foundations of Education

This is an introductory course to the field of professional education, examining it from historical, sociological, cultural, psychological and philosophical perspectives. Topics include: financing, administration and control of US education, multi-cultural education, professional preparation, current issues and trends, curriculum models, legal and moral responsibilities of teachers and societal challenges for educators. Classroom observations and a professional interview are required.
