HCP 0604 Nursing Assistant Clinical
This course will provide students with the skills required to work as a nursing assistant in a health care facility. Topics include communication skills, legal-ethical responsibilities, providing safety, physical comfort, personal care, nutrition, infection control, and other skills relevant to nurse assisting. Emphasis is placed on caring for the adult patient. Professional liability insurance fee required.

Prerequisite
A completed Physical Examination Report (SAR-40-A), an approved 4-hour AIDS seminar, and CPR certification are prerequisites of this course. Students must take the following course: the American Heart Association – "Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers" (PHSC course NCH 0050).
Notes
1. Current basic physical examination indicting good health.
2. Current Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, =pertussis) immunization.
3. Current influenza (flu) immunization.
4. Completed hepatitis B immunization series or signed waiver.
5. Current negative tuberculin (TB) test.
6. Positive blood titers indicating Immunity to rubeola (measles), parotitis (mumps), rubella (German measles) and varicella (chicken pox).
7. Satisfactory criminal background check and level II fingerprint check.
A student who has been indicted, found guilty of, or entered a plea of no contest to a felony or any offense that would disqualify one for employment in healthcare will result in program disqualification.
8. Negative urine alcohol/drug screen.
A positive alcohol screen or drug screen for a medication not currently prescribed will result in program disqualification.
