BIO 540 Advanced Animal Physiology
Dynamic physiological properties will be examined in single cells, tissues, and whole organisms. Emphasis will be placed on the physiology of excitable cells and their integration in the whole animal. Laboratories will utilize advanced recording techniques, including microelectrodes, isometric tension measurements, semi-intact preparations, and modern electronics. Includes one three-hour laboratory per week, plus two hours arranged.
Prerequisite
BIO 130 plus any other 100-level Biology course (except
BIO 103); or permission of instructor (
BIO 130 may be taken concurrently)
