PARL166 Criminal Law and Procedure

Overview of the paralegal's role in various law offices involved in the criminal justice process. Substantive aspects of criminal law including the general principles of criminal liability, analysis of particular crimes, parties to crimes, and the substantive defense to crimes. Constitutional safeguards and procedures from arrest through trial, sentencing, punishment, and appeal are also studied. Ethical obligations, appropriate legal terminology and relevant technology in criminal law and procedure are examined. Pre- or coreq. - PARL101. Offered fall semester only.
