GWS205 Women and War
This course examines the multifaceted role of women in war and conflict, including--but not limited to--the impact on the political economy, social identity, and women’s health. The visibility of women in war, or lack thereof, will be addressed, with careful observations of the portrayals of gender in cinema, literature, and the coverage of war. Additionally, the evolving roles and challenges of women in the military will be examined, with a particular emphasis on the U.S. military. Lastly, the role of women in the peacemaking process will be examined.
