BTN201 Basic Laboratory Applications
A course for students pursuing a technical career requiring basic laboratory skills. A hands-on approach to instrumentation use, care and maintenance is provided. Topics of study include evaluation and preparation of solutions, viscosity and pH measurements, spectroscopy, protein determination, and separation techniques such as filtration, centrifugation, chromatography, and electrophoresis. Documentation and quality assurance are stressed. (2 lecture hours and 4 lab hours per week)
Prerequisite
Communication Proficiency or PSAT Evidence based Reading and Writing of 550 or above (taken in 2016 or later), or, SAT Evidenced based Reading and Writing of 550 or above (taken in 2016 or later), or ACT English of 22 or above and CEAR 82 or above, or NGQA 268 or above, or PSAT Math 560 or above or SATM 530 or above (if taken prior to 2016) or SATM 560 or above or ACT 24 or above or MAT 003 or MAT 062 or MAT 094 or MAT 131 or MAT 135 with a C or better or Math Module 12.
