OTA203 Mental Health Concepts in Occupational Therapy Practice
An exploration of the psychological and social factors that influence one's engagement in occupation with emphasis on wellness and recovery. An investigation of the major mental illnesses and their effect on occupational performance is included along with attention to conditions that place persons at-risk for occupational dysfunction. The distinct value of occupational therapy including the role of the occupational therapy assistant in the promotion of mental health is explored in the classroom and reinforced through fieldwork experiences in hospital-based and community-based settings. (30 hours of lecture and 30 hours of fieldwork)
