ENG 100 Writing I

(3-0-3) This course is designed to develop students' skills in reading introductory college-level texts with comprehension and critical awareness; writing effective academic prose; making use of current technologies to locate information relevant to select topics; and making effective and appropriate use of a modest number of sources in expository and persuasive/argumentative essays. Students with an ACT English subscore of 17 or below will take the enhanced/corequisite version of this course (ENG 100E), which adds additional instructional support. The enhanced/corequisite course (ENG 100E) meets additional times throughout the week. This course satisfies the required core-Writing I for general education.

One of the following: ACT English score of 18 or higher, Accuplacer Next-Generation Writing score of 244 or higher, SAT Reading & Writing score of 480 or higher, SAT Writing & Language score of 25 or higher, KYOTE Writing score of 6 or higher, or GED Reasoning through Language Arts score of 165 or higher.
