ENG.3055 Black Poetry and Drama

Critical study and oral reading of Black poetry and drama. We will explore the works of representative writers such as Langston Hughes, Lorraine Hansberry, Wole Soyinka, Dennis Brutus, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Don L. Lee, Wilson. Themes, styles, and aesthetic philosophies, and impact of both the oral and written traditions will be covered.
