CHM.1050 Chemistry for the Health Sciences

This course surveys the fundamentals of general chemistry and an introduction to organic chemistry and biochemistry. Topics include atomic structure; periodicity; chemical bonding; acid-base reactions; buffers; organic nomenclature; functional groups; and reactions. Biological applications will be emphasized where applicable. This course serves students within the college's health sciences programs, as well as those students interested in gaining chemical knowledge useful within a healthcare field.
