CAM 4086 Constructed Images & Studio Photography

This is an upper level photography class where students will learn the practices of working in a photo studio to "create" images, stop motion animations and experiment with lighting and composition. Throughout the history of photography the photo studio has played an important role in image making. Early photographers and contemporaries have used the photo studio as a tool in creating photographs. The class will explore the principles of lighting and the creation of photographs using either digital or film based cameras. Aesthetic and technical elements will be addressed and emphasized along with individual experimentation and exploration. Examples of projects will include studio portraiture, product photography, constructed worlds and stop motion animation. Advanced digital and film printing, image manipulation techniques. as well as professional presentaion will be covered. Course ojectives will be addressed through class lectures, exercises and projects, as well as class critiques and online student blogs.
