BIO 1000 Introduction to Biology

The purpose of this course is to introduce students considering majoring in biology to the field of biology. Topics will include a survey of cells, tissues and organ systems, photosynthesis and basic Mendelian and molecular genetics. Evolutionary theory will be discussed as well as basic phylogentic relationships within each Kingdom of Life. This course is intended for biology majors that would either like to reinforce foundational material before starting the introductory sequence courses 'Principles of Biology I' and 'Prinicples of Biology II' or for those that did not pass the placement exam. The course will not count as credit toward the major.
