BIO 1000 INTRODUCTION TO BIOLOGY

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the field of biology. Topics will include a survey of cells, tissues and organ systems, photosynthesis and basic Mendelian and molecular genetics. Evolutionary theory will be discussed as well as basic phylogentic relationships within each Kingdom of Life. This course is intended for non-biology majors, and will not count as credit toward the major. Students who are considering a major in biology but who have not fulfilled the entry requirments for Principles of Biology I and II (the introductory course sequence for the biology major).
