EDU 5505 Organizing and Supervising a School Literacy Program

Study the role of the administrator and literacy specialist in literacy programs. Develop strategies for organizing and planning for effective instruction, implementing professional development programs, supervising reading/language arts programs, consulting with school personnel, program assess-ment, practice in professional writing and speaking on current issues in the field of literacy. Examine procedures designed to achieve various purposes: creating new developmental programs, academic intervention services; parental and public relations; grant writing and fiscal needs of program planning. Special emphasis will be given to identifying characteristics of programs that maximize student achievement across diverse populations and the integration of technology into the literacy program.(Literacy Course)
