On-Campus Student Employment
Federal Work-Study Program
The Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) is a federally-funded financial aid program for students with financial need to assist with the cost of their college education by providing a subsidy to employers for part-time student employment. The program is dependent on the student applying for financial aid through the FAFSA and qualifying based on their financial need. To apply for FWS for the Fall and Spring semesters, you must complete the current year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.gov and submit it electronically. The Manhattanville school code is 002760.
Students who are awarded Work-Study are responsible for obtaining their own employment by applying through the Center for Career Development’s online job board, Handshake, located at https://mville.joinhandshake.com/. Once hired, students will be required to complete employment paperwork for each position obtained. Jobs are available for the fall and spring semesters.
If a student does not find suitable employment and cannot earn the awarded FWS amount, the student will not receive the money allotted. Any questions regarding the Federal Work-Study Program or its policies should be directed to the Student Employment Coordinator in the Career Development office.
Campus Employment Program
Students who do not have Federal Work-Study may apply for a campus job under the Campus Employment Program. Limited non-Federal Work-Study positions are available during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. To be eligible, a student must be a current Manhattanville student.
Once hired, students in both programs are paid hourly according to the pay scales of the Manhattanville College Student Employment Job Classification System. Work schedules for campus positions are arranged by the student and the supervisor, normally ranging from 6-12 hours per week.
IMPORTANT NOTE: All hired student employees may not begin working until all required paperwork is received by the Center for Career Development. All potential student employees are advised to have acceptable documents readily available to establish identity and employment eligibility. Some common documents are the U.S. Passport, Social Security Card or U.S. Birth Certificate
