POS 2058 Latin American Politics
An historical analysis of the last century of Latin American development through underdevelopment. The central theme is the relationship between Latin America and the industrialized world and the way in which international policies are constructed to insure the continuation of Latin American dependency. Students will consider the problem agrarian societies confront when forced to industrialize and the sometimes violent political solutionswhich are imposed as a consequence.
