ASN 1005 INTRO TO AMENA
In this course, students will learn about contemporary issues in the greater Asia region - for example, the Rohingya refugees, the Arab Spring, and informal politics in the streets of Egypt. Greater Asia encompasses the following regions: Asia-Pacific, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa. The course will bring together countries in the regions as bound by their common histories and themes that appear across state and regional boundaries. Topics include: democracy and authoritarianism, social and political movements, migration and refugees, poverty and development, and the politics of informality.
