Advising Center
The Advising Center provides services in the areas of academic advising and transfer preparation. The mission of the Advising Center is to encourage student persistence and support the attainment of academic and career goals. To fulfill this mission, a team of Academic and Career Advisors coordinate and facilitate all services at both college campuses. At the Fort McIntosh campus, the Advising Center is located in the Lerma-Pena Building in room 201, and at the South campus, the Center is situated at the Billy Hall Student Center in room A131.
Advising and Transfer Services
The Advising Center offers academic advising and transfer preparation to current and future students. These services are intended to help students recognize and learn their program and major requirements, make appropriate course selections, meet graduation requirements, understand the transfer process and meet all transfer requirements in a timely manner. Services are offered in two formats: on-campus (in person) and on-line. Students who prefer on-campus services can request assistance on a walk-in basis. Students are expected to arrive at the Center well before closing to allow sufficient time for a more thorough advising session. Students who prefer on-line services are welcomed to submit an on-line advising request via the following link: www.laredo.edu/e-advising. Once the on-line request is assigned to an advisor, students are contacted via telephone to address their questions and receive the appropriate guidance. Students advised via telephone are sent an e-mail with a brief description of items discussed via telephone.
