INDS 122 Lumiere Noire: The African Diaspora in Paris
This course explores Paris as a center of cultural exchange for both African American expatriates and the broader African Diaspora, challenging notions of color-blindness. It examines the distinct articulation of Black American identity in various mediums and its impact on political activism and Pan-African consciousness. Trips to Marseille and Nantes are included to delve into their significant roles in Black history in France, particularly concerning the African Diaspora and the transatlantic slave trade. [GM2, H]
