CHEM 4190 MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY
Medicinal Chemistry focuses on the relationships between the structures of organic molecules and their functions in biological systems. The course will provide an overview of the drug development process from research bench to patient ingestion. This will include the investigation of small molecule interaction with relevant biological targets, efficacy, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity profiling of any drug candidate with complete pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics study. The course will emphasize major drug design techniques in the scope of medicinal chemistry so that students can have hands-on training of industrial standards. (3 hr. lecture)
Prerequisite
CHEM*2582, BIO*1400 or permission of the instructor.
