The development of American Jewry from the arrival of the Jews in colonial America to the present day. Four periods of migration: Sephardic(1654- 1840), German-Jewish (1830-1880), East European (1880-1924), and postwar suburban (1945 to the present). Focus on the evolution of American- Jewry and its relationship with American public and civic life. TYPE OF COURSE: Elective
