EMT 110 Basic Emergency Medical Tech
(Contact Hours: 12) Basic EMT covers the fundamental depth of knowledge and skill, across a broad spectrum of illness and injury required for the assessment, treatment, and transport of a patient experiencing an emergency, until arrival at definitive care. The application of lifesaving skills for airway management, CPR with electrical therapy, and drug therapy are in-depth topics of patient care. Successful students are eligible for Michigan Department of Health and Human Services licensing as an EMT Basic via the National Registry of EMTs certification exam. This course is equivalent to the EMT basic certificate of achievement sequence of EMT 105, EMT 111, and EMT 112. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Math - minimum benchmarks will be enforced; Reading - SAT: 22, Accuplacer: 53, NextGen Accuplacer: 248, ACT: 14, or COMPASS: 65 is REQUIRED. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is REQUIRED.
