LPN 101 Foundations LPN

(Contact Hours: 4) This course provides an introduction to the role of the professional LPN nurse as provider of safe quality patient-centered care as a member of a health-care team. Content includes fundamental concepts of nursing practice and systematic framework for decision-making, clinical reasoning, and critical thinking. Concepts will include informatics, ethics/values, legal implications, and evidence-based practice within the discipline of nursing. Application of principles underlying the nursing care provided will include health promotion and recognition of physical, psychosocial, health equity, health literacy, and spiritual needs of culturally diverse patient populations. PREREQUISITE: Admission to the practical nursing program is REQUIRED.
