Goals of the Program

At the completion of the MA degree in Theology and Christian Ministry at Franciscan University of Steubenville, the graduate is able to:

  1. Articulate fundamental concepts in the areas of biblical, historical, and systematic moral theology.
  2. Understand theology from within an ecclesial context, which is to say, from within the faith- commitments of the Roman Catholic Communion.
  3. Do competent theological research and writing.

The graduate who completes either the on-ground Specialization in Catechetics or the online Concentration in Catechetics is able, in addition, to:

  1. deliver catechesis within an ecclesial context as part of the broader work of evangelization;
  2. analyze critically the central place of divine revelation for an understanding of catechetics;
  3. communicate effectively the content of catechesis in a kerygmatic way through written and oral assignments.
